Jesus has provided My wife and I with many amazing opportunities to serve the Church and pursue the lost. But, we’ve never felt qualified. The Holy Spirit has been generous with his spiritual gifts and we rely on him to supernaturally empower everything we do. We’ve pastored churches, but they weren’t pretty, they were full of broken people. The hours spent doing things like cleaning toilets and painting walls were not glamorous, but very fulfilling. We’ve been deliberate about taking the Kingdom beyond the church walls. We’ve sought out tired and wounded people to draw them into our life for healing.
Every season of ministry is an adventure, often overwhelming and radically different than expected. For example: When my daughter was a child, her trampoline drew kids to our yard. As we prayed over them and shared Christ, they kept multiplying. So, we started children’s church in our home. We moved the furniture, set up tables, and fed them breakfast as we taught them God's word. 72 children wrecked our house but we felt so privileged, and it was gloriously fruitful!
I’ve preached to crowds from pulpits, prisons, street corners, and live radio. But, often our most effective and endearing ministry is in unexpected places, like telemarketers that hang on every word as I love them and share Christ. My day job customers who stand in their kitchen and weep as I preach God’s word. Daily encounters at the gym, the bank or Home Depot.
We are called to preach repentance to America. I’m sent to offer the incomparable love of Jesus and warn of his coming judgment. We’re determined to serve others, and God’s providing new, amazing opportunities every day. We’re determined at any cost to share the true meaning of life with as many souls as possible, in as many ways as possible, before leaving this world!
